University Professor Nathalie Pêcheux, a divorcée in her fifties navigates through conflicted emotions towards not only her daughter Mathilde, but also her best friend Sophie, her ex-husband and his new partner, and her colleagues.
All are having a hard time being the subject of Nathalie’s recent attacks and unpredictable reactions. The follow-up to their first feature, Delicacy, sibling writers-directors David and Stéphane Foenkinos offer another portrait of a fragile, complex woman played by the dazzling Karin Viard, who switches effortless from one emotion to another within a scene subtly modulating her character.
By turns very dark and very funny, shifts in tone and rhythm bring us both a comedy and an introspective portrait of Nathalie, whose turmoils are never fully resolved.
